Through this initiative, Usha Shedge connects mentors, volunteers, and communities from the United States with students in India β encouraging cultural exchange, global exposure, and lifelong friendships across borders.

Vision Behind the Program
Meet Usha Shedge
Education is the greatest equalizer. When a child in rural India speaks with confidence, they are no longer just a village student β they are a global citizen ready to shape the future.

Born in Satara, Maharashtra, to supportive parents, Usha completed her Master's in Computer Science and built an 18-year career as a seasoned IT developer β before channeling that drive into social change. After moving to Chicago with her family, she has since 2002 dedicated over two decades to uplifting communities across India and the United States, leading initiatives in education, sustainability, youth leadership, and women's empowerment.
Her volunteer journey spans the Boy Scouts, PTA, and large-scale rural development β including constructing a new school building, setting up libraries and computer centers, and planting 4,000+ trees in villages. Alongside her husband Bhaskar, she has personally contributed or helped raise over $250,000 to keep these transformative projects alive and growing.
